Orangeskin can throw a party - party review by Peter Meyer

Scott Wilson + Jolt Lighting + Quinze and Milan join up with Orange Skin during Neocon in Chicago for one hell of a good time.
"The party was so much fun. Everyone was there. Ross Lovegrove charmed everyone."

This opening was primarily for the industrial designer Scott Wilson's lamps for Jolt Lighting, wrist watches for Nike and furniture by Quinze+Milan

I pulled up with my girl on my arm. The party from the inside shuddered the glass. The lights were streamlining out of the front window onto cityscape like spent streamers after a ticker tape parade in New York. Orangeskin was jumpin. The swagger in the walk of the post Neocon party was that of confidence and recognition. Design was the topic of choice, in all its art forms. This was a star studded event with every personality in the Design field all in one place. The Multicultural mix was no where more prevalent than it was this night. The beauty and Design from all cultures and countries. The flower bouquet of Chicago's finest women was in full bloom under the soft and permeable Orange skin (pun intended).

The acclaimed Ross Lovegrove, Scott Wilson, Su Hail, and the electric Bart Brejcha were in high sprits after Neocon Chicago. The hosts for the evening were the owners of Orangeskin, Obie and Giuseppe, they transformed the likes of their design showroom into a Design Mecca. The pulse was pounding and the congregated design stars talked of old and new projects a like. As the drinks poured, mainly gin libations, and while sipped on a martini I had a chance to say hello to Ross Lovegrove. He was riding the crest of a three day whirlwind tour of Chicago and marketing his new line of furniture. So what do you think of Chicago ? I asked him. " I love this city, its beautiful and exciting...I think the future is now for Chicago." This is the feeling around Chicago, that the city by the lake is not just up and coming but is at critical mass right now because of its more stable economy. I asked Bart Brejcha about Chicago and what it means to him " I think the stability of Chicago's economy only adds to its innovation. Chicago has a healthy and stable economy compared to other cities and its healthy to think like that."

The state of the Design is only as good as it innovation. The Orange skin party was a smashing success for all those that participated and as I took one last look around the room, the subtle hint of gin in the air, the brilliance from the Scott Wilson cascade of lights and the the mingling of the future of Chicago.
