We have all been wowed by the latest computer wizardry that’s coming out of Hollywood…Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Toy Story and Terminator 2, to a name a few of the evolutionary movies. Every movie that hits the street is now in some way or another using computer graphics. Now, this innovative technology is being used more and more in the MCAD industry. Well check out the latest in innovation in real time rendering from ICEM Technologies ICEM Surf 2002-4.2.
Increased processing speeds and improved algorithms in ICEM Surf allow you to generate ‘immediate’ photo realistic 3D images. Rotate or move the model and the reflections and shadows update in real time, allowing you to better examine your design in its true photo realistic environment.
Most designers assume they have to settle for static rendering. This means they position the model and wait until the system generates the rendered image, a slow, painstaking process. When the rendering is complete, they may realize that the shadow is incorrect, textures are misplaced or reflection is too high, thus requiring an additional rendering to adopt any changes. Why waste all of this time going through this iterative loop? ICEM Surf allows these types of changes to occur on the fly, during your design investigation process.
This unique concept of "Reality Modeling" becomes possible with ICEM Surf, where the user can perform rapid dynamic form changes to the model, whilst keeping the photo-realistic effects of reflection, textures, transparency and shadows continually active.
When it comes to designing, designers can work unhindered in this fully rendered mode, whilst making changes to their models. This allows the designers to visualize their design in its appropriate environment from the earliest conceptual development, to the finished surface model, without the need for 3rd party visualization packages. All of the images in this article are screen shots of ICEM surf.
All ICEM Surf geometry including curves, surfaces, point cloud, polygon and scan data can all be modified in this real time rendered mode. It is not only native geometry that can be modified and rendered inside of ICEM Surf. Geometry from any other 3D CAD systems can be imported, modified and rendered using the sophisticated tool set available within ICEM Surf 2002-4.2. There are direct translators to Pro/ENGINEER, I-DEAS, Catia (V4 and V5), Unigraphics, Cadds and most other standard interfaces.
With ICEM Surf 2002-4.2, you can produce stunning renderings in real-time on any well-configured CAD workstation, Unix or Windows. The only prerequisite is a graphics card with texture memory. This eliminates the need for processing timely animations as ICEM Surf delivers your design in a fully rendered environment in views that are controlled by your interactive input.
ICEM Surf 2002-4.2 now allows you to model and interactively investigate form and shape in a new real time rendered environment. There is now, no need to waste time setting up your environment, lighting and materials in preparation for a static batch rendering. With the unique ability of “Reality Modeling” from ICEM Technologies, your designs can be realized in seconds, compared to hours in most traditional CAD systems.
Batch rendering, if required, can still be executed using ICEM surf, which will give you access to an easy to use suite of rendering tools, including lens flare, depth of field and fog, amongst many other typical rendering options.
However batch rendering is a thing of the past. Welcome to ICEM Surf 2002-4.2, the high-end surfacing and visualization tool. Check out these avi files of some real time rendering screen grabs.
