IDSA Chicago Presents: Fight Club
The next Fight Club is Thursday Feb 12th and will be televised for showing a week later on ABC.

Fight Club is a verbal slugfest; a no holds barred debating event not to be missed. This time the subject is:

Consumerism -to buy or not to buy

In this relatively affluent society we are able to buy much more than we actually need, and there is an unending supply of products aiming to fulfill all our consumer desires. Cool, fun products. Designers enjoy creating such coveted products, and manufacturers enjoy the sales. In fact, the US economy is wholly supported by high consumption. However, shorter product lives and the increase in landfill-destined products have created an environmental and social problem. To buy or not to buy, that is truly the question.

To help us find an answer, we have an all-star line up of Fighters including JohnPaul Kusz co-founder of the Center for Sustainable Enterprise, and a previous Fight Club champion, the eloquent Nathan Coco. Janet Davies from the ABC show 190 North will also be joining in on the debate within the audience.

Make sure you can make it -it'll be a fight to remember.

What is Fight Club? Picture this:

-Darkened empty loft space.
-Two Fighters under a spotlight, circled by 50 standing onlookers.
-One subject matter, two radically opposing opinions.
-Heartfelt opinions, careful answers, and passionate arguments.
The two 'Fighters' take extreme for and against stances to debate the merits and pitfalls of the subject matter. The surrounding audience or 'crowd' openly add their spice to the debate from all sides.

First Rule of Fight Club: There can only be one winner
Second Rule of Fight Club: There are no rules
